Setting up your own iPad

If you’re setting up your own iPad, rather than one provided by us, please ensure the settings are configured as below.

Basic Setup for New iPads

 

  1. If it’s a brand new iPad, from the ‘Hello’ screen press the Home button to continue.
  2. Select preferred language (it will be easier to follow these instructions if the iPad is set to English).
  3. Select the correct country.
  4. Choose your Wi-Fi Network & enter password.
  5. Enable Location Services.
  6. Choose not to set up Touch ID.
  7. Choose ‘Passcode Options’ > ‘4-Digit Numeric Code’, then please use the passcode provided by Avius.
  8. Select ‘Set up as new iPad’.
  9. Select ‘Don’t have an Apple ID or forgot it?’.
  10. Select ‘Set up later in Settings’.
  11. Select ‘Don’t Use’.
  12. Accept Terms & Conditions.
  13. Select ‘Agree’.
  14. Select ‘Turn on Siri later’ at bottom of screen.
  15. Select ‘Send to Apple’ for Diagnostics.
  16. Select ‘Share with App Developers’ for App Analytics.
  17. Select ‘Get Started’.

Avius Specific Settings

 

  1. Click the Settings icon.
  2. Select ‘Software Update’, then download and install if there is one available.
  3. Select Bluetooth & turn off.
  4. Select General > Handoff & Suggested Apps.
  5. Turn off ‘Handoff’ & ‘Installed Apps’.
  6. Select General > Multitasking.
  7. Turn off ‘Allow Multiple Apps’, ‘Persistent Video Overlay’ and ‘Gestures’.
  8. Select General > Accessibility > Guided Access. Turn Guided Access on.
  9. Select ‘Passcode Settings’.
  10. Select ‘Set Guided Access Passcode’. Set this the same as the passcode provided by Avius.
  11. Select General > Auto-Lock. Set to ‘Never’.
  12. Select General > Date & Time. Check the time, date, and time zone are correct.
  13. Select General > Keyboard. Select ‘Keyboards’, swipe left on ‘Emoji’ and delete.
  14. Turn off ‘Shortcuts’ & ‘Split Keyboard’.
  15. Select Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock. Set to ‘Never’.
  16. Select ‘iCloud’ and sign in with Apple ID. This will be provided by Avius.
  17. Select ‘iCloud Backup’ and turn off.
  18. Select iTunes & App Store and sign in with Apple ID.
  19. Ensure App store Automatic Updates is turned on.

Installing Survey App

 

  1. Click App Store icon.
  2. Search for “Avius Survey” and download the app.
  3. Click Home Button to return to the home screen.
  4. Click the Avius icon for the app you just downloaded.
  5. Allow Notifications (if prompted).
  6. Allow Location (if prompted).
  7. Allow Camera (if prompted).
  8. Allow Microphone (if prompted).
  9. The app will ask for an activation code. Avius will provide this for you.
  10. After entering the activation code, the app will download your survey and theme.
  11. Enable Guided Access by triple-clicking home button. (Three clicks in quick succession).
  12. The Guided Access screen should open. Click “Start” in the top right to enter Guided Access.
